All animation, design, and music by Shawn Feeney except where noted.
I work with a select number of clients each year on freelance motion design projects. I combine animation, graphic design, illustration, cinematography, music and sound design to create compelling, bespoke videos. My in-house experience includes two years in the Art Department of Lucasfilm’s Industrial Light & Magic, and six years as an animator & videographer for Laerdal Medical.

Working closely with Bill Barclay, I created over 30 animated sequences for the Concert Theatre Works production, What Music Is. The show combines full orchestra, projections, and Bill’s engaging narration to explore the strange ubiquity of a phenomenon essential to music: the harmonic series. It’s a journey from the micro to the macro, from electrons to star systems, exploring nature’s connection to the inherent harmony within musical vibration.
In addition to providing art direction and digital sound design, I also run the projections for the live show, closely following cues from the conductor and Barclay. What Music Is premiered with the San Juan Symphony in February, 2025, and continues to tour.
An animated visualization of Bach’s Chorale BWV 253. Music performed by Chamber Choir of Europe.
Contemplative looping animation in my Musical Anatomy style. For the soundtrack, I played two of my quartz singing bowls in the interval of a perfect fifth. The aspect ratio of the video is 3:2, which is the same relationship as the pitches in the perfect fifth interval.
Remix ⟷ Culture is non-profit organization celebrating musical traditions in harmony with digital remix art. I designed this logo animation to evoke both the hypnotic, entrancing rhythms found in much of the traditional music they record, as well as the turntables used by modern remix artists.
